We have pondered installing the camera arches we see at other EE;s but they care pretty pricey. Another alternative would be to add some more digital cameras to our existing security system on each side of our auto sentry canopy to catch a good view of cars as they come around to the tunnel entry.

Really we haven't had many claims that would warrant the expense but it could happen. Good investment or waste of money.

My cameras have paid for themselves time and time again saving me thousands of dollars the BP Station next to me has over 15 cameras in and out of his store I'am contemplating on installing license plate cameras or just mounting another set of cameras about 4 ft of the ground as the vehicles are pulling in to capture plates.

Not just plates

Thanks for the reply. For instance had a customer in yesterday who cursed us out cause her car got a bowling ball sized dent and her husband told her never to come to our kind of wash (EE). Roll video coming around to car wash entry and there is the big old dent before she ever came in. But we can't see low, near the rocker panel areas and some scratches don't show up in the glare.

Many times when someone washes their vehicle it reveals damage they were not aware of. Happens a lot with wheels and rims.

I recently upgraded my cameras. I have high definition IP cameras mounted on both sides of my canopy at the tunnel entrance. I was hesitant to put these in because of the cost but they are worth their weight in gold. I have had about three ridiculous damage claims in the last two months. These cameras proved them to all be pre-existing.
At some point I may even add more.

I had a lady call me yesterday and say my touchfree scratched and dented the side of her rig. I reviewed the tape and she drove in about 2 feet too far over to the right, bashed the crap out of a couple of my sprayers. Luckily I had a couple as backup, so I switched them out. When I called her back I just explained what the tapes showed and she was polite and thanked me. If I didn't have the tape it would be a he said/she said.

Right now you can get a decently cheap system from costco.com for $600. I don't see why anyone without one wouldn't just throw one in. If you don't like it you can always return it hassle free at a store.
