The last 4 years I've used Calcium Chloride and it caused a lot of problems with my concrete, which was improperly poured in some areas. I'm thinking of just putting up barricade type signs on icy days that say:
CAUTION!!!
Icy Conditions May Exist!
Use Car Wash At Your Own Risk.

What do you guys think, does this protect me from liability to any degree?

Some will say yes, some will say no. As a preventative method, I just put up the same type of signs that you mention putting up when it comes time for winter.

My .02 would be to call a lawyer and see what he has to say.

In my experience, when you get to court your signs carry a lot of weight. NO one can claim that they had to wash their car, so their "performance" was "under duress".

I don't know if your sign would protect you from a "slip and fall" artist, or his or her lawyer. I would want a written opinion from a lawyer, or better yet, from your insurance carrier to CYA.
I really think the sign might put the idea in some people's head to file a false claim.

This is a perfect example of why you should have cameras. I know from other post here on the forum, that Red Baron has cameras and like Bill says, the signs do carry alot of weight in court. If an accident did occur, I would much rather have the "caution" signs than not.

I like the "slippery conditions may exist" for all seasons I had some moron spray something off in the bay that looked like lard or crisco all over the bay. It took some time to get the slippery out of that bay. I had a slip and fall four years ago and the insurance co. has still not settled the case. The temp this day never got above freezing and we had a ice storm earlier, and the sun came out. The ironic thing is this guys job for the 4 previous days was to spread ice melt on the sidewalks at the university. I had purchased 4 bags that morning and he admited he saw the ice melt. The attorneys asked the claimant what should I have done different. He stated I should have put up signs. The attorney asked him how many signs had he put out? NONE LOL
