Determining Employee Pricing

I need a better way to get paid when employees wash and/or detail their own cars.

What do you folks do? X amount of free carwashes per month for employees? A flat, discount rate applied to any carwash sales for your employees?

How about detailing?

I am not looking to profit from employees keeping their cars clean, just to cover costs and not lose $ on this aspect of business.

Most employees do not abuse the privilege of keeping thier own car clean using my facility, but some bring their family cars and expect constant freebies and it all adds up. as you know.

Thanks!

When I was a general manager of a car wash chain the employees received one basic wash a week for their personal vehicle when they were not on the clock or if they did not own one they could designate another family members' vehicle. There were no allowances for any other family members. My grandson currently works for a national chain that allows one free wash a week for employees and no family discounts.

We weren't very detail oriented but gave a 25% discount on detail services to the employee only. If the employee did not pay when the service was rendered we deducted it from their next paycheck. We did not give free or discounted services to anyone other than the employee themselves.

You need to establish a firm policy and stick to it. Sounds like you may be getting taken advantage of by at least some of your employees.

We give our employees a free inside and outside wash every other week (payday). That can be used on any vehicle, does not need to be their own.
Detailing services are discounted 20% for employees and the discount is only for their personal vehicles. The services are done the same as any other customer, scheduled, paid at the time of service and performed by employees "on the clock" No one is allowed to use supplies or tools outside of this.
