I was washing down my ceiling on one of my bays with a 6 foot long extention wand with a tip that had too small of a hole in it. I am thinking that this caused the motor to overheat. The motor going to my cat pump stoped working and was just making a humming sound. It also felt very hot. I waited about 20 minutes and tried the bay again...it started a little but then it stopped again. I left it till tomorrow when it is cooled off.
I checked the fuses and the contactor and they seem fine.

I am hoping I just overheated the pump....any suggestions?

How did you check the contactor? You need to use a meter and see if every leg of power is going to the motor. Humming is usually the sign of a 3 phase motor missing one leg of the supply voltage (the motor could be fried internally).

You might remove the belt and check the pump. We had an employee who would leave the washdown switches on all the time, and the heat buildup in the pump would melt the seals and plastic on the valves. If the pump overheated and seized the motor won't turn, but as a rule running an undersized tip won't affext the motor (unless you also increased the pressure).

Take the motor off and take it to a motor rebuilder.
Have them check it out.
Over the years I've had to have a few motors rebuilt. Cost around $85-100.
They're still running.

I checked the contactor with a meter and one leg of power was not working. I odered a new contactor today from KR and will try it out when it arrives. I hope thats all it was.
