Hey guys having issues with my Dixmor Dryer Timer display. I have the keys to get into them but it’s as if the locks are stuck and I can’t get them to turn. Any tips on replacing these or getting the locks to turn.
Spray WD-40 or PB Blaster into the lock and then try turning it. I have the same problem with my vacuum faceplate locks. I very seldom get into them and are a little hard to open.
Just a heads up if you dont know but the locks on those are threaded. You have to keep turning the key in circles counter clockwise to open. Do what randy said and use WD40. Should turn right away.
We were warned of this issue so I keep anti seize on the threads and WD-40 on the lock whenever I think about it. Also don't crank it down super tight when closing it back up
I tried to schedule a monthly shot of WD 40 in all locks. Many "Lock People" do not like this but it seems to flush out junk and corrosion and keep things lubricated.
If you're certain you have the right key, use a rubber mallet and tap on the door the lock is securing as you try to turn it. Just don't hit the key, it will deform the square handle and ruin the fit to the cylinder part of the key. Sometimes it's not the lock but the door itself that is creating a force greater than what a key-turn can overcome. (ex. it was last locked in the heat of summer and now you're trying to unlock the door on a cool, fall day.)
