breach of contract
As was discussed in another thread a month or so ago, I think it's important to let other operators know when a supplier isnt following through.
So, what happened?
Well, I bought a
credit card system from Washtech controls - Zack Arnold. Our written agreement was that it would be delivered in 3 weeks. It showed up in 3 months.
After I received the wiring instructions, I connected it, and:
- the card reader did not work
- the display did not work
- the interface with the dixmor timer did not work
- the hardware for count up is not there
- those are the big items, there are a bunch of "smaller" issues as well.
I had a frirend who works with computer electronics look at the system & wiring, he confirmed that it was wired according to the instructions, but it did not work properly. After a couple weeks of back & forth, I decided that enough was enough, I was sending the system back. At that point, Zack offered to fly out here at his expense to fix the system, and give me a couple other free services.
Here's why I wasnt willing to accept that:
1) That offer came after FOUR MONTHS of trying to get a system installed and operating. Would YOU rely on such a system to accept payment at your business, knowing that it is so complex that it requires somebody to fly out to fix it? While it is still brand new?
2) He knew I was about to have an article published on evaluating
credit card systems - it sounded like a panic offer to me, why didnt he offer that before I told him I wanted my money back?
