Just wondering how many of you are using Dosatrons in your washes in place of a hydrominder type setup. If you're using them what are you using them for? Thanks.

I use Dosatron in my tunnel applications. I use them for presoaks, drying aid, and waxes. I use to use them for foaming applicatiors but I could not get them to apply right. Probably because of water pressure issues.
I like them alot better than flojets and hydrominder tanks because of the cleanliness. Hope that helps!
I know one operator who uses them - he hated Flojets because they constantly had water coming out of the exhaust which wasn't a fault with the Flojets. He had to boost his water pressure and after about a year he can't shut the water off to them or they'll leak like crazy when he turns it back on.
Good question here. I think the Doseatron and Flo Jets both have their place. The Doseatron can get dilution rates better when you are mixing at 300 to 1 or more. If you are using chemicals that only dilute up to around 200 to 1, then I like Flo Jets better. They are relatively cheap, and they work. I was once discussing technology advancement with a person who thought he knew everything. This person insisted that anything could be made better with new technology. So I asked him how would he make a spoon better. On another occasion I read a report on information storage. A group of very smart people were asked to design a system to store information that could be used hundreds of years in the future by relatively inexperienced people. And all with no energy source. Their answer was a book.
The reasons we would consider the Dosatron or MixRite is for saving space and be able to change the ratio quicker than dealing with tips. Also the screw in tips leave large gaps in size between some colors. We have a set of push in tips that have better fill in between the sizes but I can't get them out without damaging them.
Dosatron is fine for a tunnel application where super concentrated chemicals are not used, but on a touchless iba the pulsing of the chemicals is a big problem. I have found direct injection to be a far superior system for this. I Have set up hydraflex on some washes and seen perfect chemical dispensing, whilst using less chemicals per car.
I use dosatrons for all my chemicals, waxes, and trifoams in my automatics. I started using them in 2010 and haven't had any problems with delivery. So far it's been set them and forget about them, knock on wood.
