hey everybody:

it is extremely slow this week. mon-wed, no rain, relatively sunny. located in midwest.

what gives? the rains of last week seem to have been a "clean" rain not a "dirty" rain. is that accurate or wishful thinking? my vehicle seems clean to me without washing in 5 days.

from july 15th til last sunday we have had a lot of on/off rains. i put up a 2 day rewash guarantee just now to see if that helps.

i know gas, economy, and the weather have been nibbling at us, but this seems strange. maybe the back to school expenditures, shopping effects this period too. in my drive arounds to other places they also appear to be slow. just that sometimes the mind plays tricks on you.

thanks in advance for any feedback.

I think you were right about the latest rains, and still alot on vacation, and customer base is usually kind of small till about 3rd week of school and routines are set in, and money also.

I couldn't agree more! I was wondering the same thing...decent weather, just not a lot of activity...sheesh!

Soft August

Im not usually setting the world on fire in August. I have seen a drop compared to Aug. 2010 with better weather this year. I did notice that the drop was on my botton 2 wash packages. Maybe the thrifty are being even more thrifty?

You could ask for better car washing weather here. PREFECT for washing cars, sunny, not to hot, No Customers!! I don’t think the weather has much to do with the decline in car washing. It’s the economy now. We are down now almost 40% and it looks worse every day. I was driving down the freeway today and noticed how many dirty cars were on the road, almost every car was dirty.

I think geography has a big part in how good/bad a wash is doing right now. Definetly here weather is still the largest factor, next to 3 dollar competition. Economy here is still booming they are building things like no tommorrow and people are moving here from up north by the herds. I think the difference from state to state or even city to city could be huge depending on what that area was/is driven by? I sometimes feel like we are living in a bubble here because when I turn the news on and reality sets in, I am suddenly more thankfull for where I live even if its over 100 degrees for over 40 days straight. Here the best situation is like its been the past few months no rain and clear sky, rain or clouds or chance of rain is the biggest game changer. At this point though I wish it would rain, this is a little too much.

we've been so hot in Arkansas that I know that it's affected me. Starting Saturday, I'm supposed to have 90 degree dry weather. I'm betting I'll see a big bump. It was 115 degrees with very high humidity last week. I didn't want to go outside either. I had a better August last year. I think it's been weather for me. I'm still not ready to blame the economy yet for slows weeks.

Things here have not been very good lately, don't know if it is the hot weather or the economy hopefully when the cooler weather get here things will pick up.(Orlando area)

We are really slow right now too. We can't figure out what's going on, gas is coming down and we still aren't busy.
