eBay crap

Just a heads up on this place. Posted a used automatic there several months ago. It didn’t sell. So I started getting bills for $100. You can NOT call and talk to anyone there. Many emails were never answered. I just wanted to know what the bill was for. So a collection agency sends me a letter. I called the number on it and was barely able to communicate with someone whose English skills were modest at best. Was finally able to find out the fee is hidden way down in the agreement. This now starts guerrilla warfare should I ever list with them again.

Mac,

I am getting ready to start selling rather than just buying. Can you tell us or share a link to the part of the agreement where Ebay can put a seller on the hook for $100 WOW. Hmmm ... collection agency .... potential garnishment ... all because of some hidden fine print ... a kind of a trap???

I have not sold on there in a while but there used to be a listing fee based on the starting or asking price.

I was finally told that the fee is 10% of the sale. I originally had the machine listed for 10K and thought it was sold, but the buyer evaporated. So I relisted it as best offer, and ended up with a 1,000 offer, which I took. Well that guy also evaporated .I ended up selling it myself from help on this forum and I removed it and placed it on a flatbed for a small fee.

Mac & others,

You would think that if there was no payment via PayPal or whatever there would be no commission obligation from you or any other seller to Ebay!!! They do have possibly penalties for whatever ... not sure.

As a buyer I have been satisfied with Ebay & PayPal reversal support. I did need them when 2 high risk sellers would not respond. The "way out delivery time" sellers are the ones I have had trouble with. When tracking the shipping showed "item is in USA secondary processing" message mode for too long!!!

I will be honest ... I sometimes do a "last resort buy" to "out of country sellers" from Ebay, AliExpress, & Alibaba ... mostly when item(s) are not available from anybody in the USA &/or delivery times are less relevant than getting a good long term better value (both quality & price factored in). I have flashbacks of the '70s when some of the USA car manufactures finally shaped up partially from competition from other countries ... those flashbacks help to keep my sometimes overzealous "blank check Patriotism" in check!

I almost sold an expensive item on there and was told that PayPal would hold the money for 60 days. Do these people just not like me.

I have never heard of that. Do they state their reasoning for holding it?
