Etowah Valley problem code?

I have Etowah valley CC timers. One is showing "service required 16" on the display. It accepts bills and coins but does not give any credit on the timer. I called just before 5:00 and the guy that answered the phone didn't know what the code meant but would get the message to Jim. I need to get this bay up ASAP because we have been very busy the past 2 days. Anyone know what "service required 16" might mean?

I have never ran into it and I checked my quickpay manual and it didn't have any info to troubleshoot.

Did you try killing the power? Please let us know once you get it figured out.

"16" indicates a stuck coin switch. It could be the coin mech issue, a frayed wire, or moisture bridging the connection into the timer. It has been VERY icy here with the 2' of snow and everyone washing the snow off their cars so I'm betting on the moisture being the culprit.

Do you have heaters in your boxes? I was having a problem with condensation building up on the lens of the mars bill acceptor. I just wired up one in mine and I haven't had any problems since.

Yes, to the heaters.
Turned out to be a bad IDX MA-800. I tried a few things before I swapped out the acceptor but customers were having trouble every twenty minutes or so, always worked flawlessly for me.
On a side note: someone had fun in a different bay flooding a Mars validator. It's drying out on the kitchen counter right now.

I drill a 1/2" hole in the bottom of the removable "snout" after noticing water stains on the bottom of the board. Now any water sprayed in runs into the meterbox and doesn't hurt anything.
