Experience with Air leak detection even check valve leakage devices?

That is pretty neat and I could see where it would be very handy. But.... the price is a deal breaker, cheapest model is over $1,000. I can put up with a lot of hard to find air leaks before this looks appealing.

Dcalhoun & others,

This shows one that is $333.20. Still spendy ... but if it saves time & even signals internal air leakage where air should not be ... maybe it could make sense. Not sure about how it could help catch bearing & seal wear as stated in the below's description.

What caught my eye in the description is this:

Valves: Detect/hear internal leakage in check, ball, needle, gate or any type of valve! Diagnose thermal expansion valves in just five minutes!

Bearing Wear: Hear wear and lubrication problems before damage is done!

Soapy water works quite often, but only if you can find some soapy water around your car wash.

Just water can also work? :)

I understand what you are talking about.... but anything that amplifies sound could do this right? Like one of these stethoscope things.... http://amzn.to/2iLoUkm
Or this thing: http://amzn.to/2iDAvXv

I get it that soapy water (ha ha about where oh where at car wash), & just a moe basic closer to totally on top of stethoscope could make sense. But I am basing my thoughts on the above link's description ... it seems like when the car wash is quiet ... if the 20-30 feet away ability to detect & the ability to priotize the leak based on the signal strength do actually perform well.

We have a bunch of air cylinders that lock & unlock our overhead doors & other duties ... so something like this could maybe make sense more for us than others. I just thought that someone on the forum had already tried such a device to more quickly keep air compressor leakage to a minimum. This also seems like it could be helpful if the compressor is on a time clock shutting it down at night.
