Anybody ever have a flojet go bad after 6 weeks of use? I installed one that was probably on the spare parts shelf for 6 months, 6 weeks a ago. Showed up yesterday and it was on the fritz. Installed another "new" one and back in business. Wondering if this is normal?

It's not normal. They have a warranty, I think it's one year.

You can have regular problems with them if your system isnt set up right. Water in the air lines can cause them to stick. I put an air line filter and a drop line with drain before the flojets and the constant problems we had with the flo jets was fixed.

Over-pressure can cause problems too, but it's not a problem with the pump. If you have a high-pressure check valve in the bay leaking back it'll lock pressure between the pump and solenoids and they can't open. If it happens again, make sure the gauge is actually sitting on zero and not wrapped all the way around pegged on the other side.

By your title, it seems like the pump is making a machine gun noise. When it does that rapidly it means there is no liquid for it to pump and it's running dry. Something's stopping the flow to the pump.

Lol, yeah totally.. Machine gun pumping means its not sucking product just air usually. You may have lost prime or have a leak in the suction line.
