Flojet Pump

My Flojet pump is acting up. I turn on my presoak and... nothing. I take the lines off the pump and shut the air off. Fool around with it for a while then I usually get a big burst like it's relieving built up pressure. Then it starts working fine. Each morning though, it will stop working and the same thing happens all over. It is only about a year old. Anyone know the fix or the warranty period?

Sounds like the pump is icing due to moisture in your air lines. When it stalls, I bet removing the muffler will reveal ice. By the way.....Flojets hate moist air.

The last time I had one stall like that, it had split a washer inside that kept the shuttle valve from switching properly. I'm pretty sure it was damaged by pressure from the bay side.

They have a one year warranty, and the date of manufacture is printed on the label.

This is kind of weird. One of my 1/4" hoses out to the bay split three times in the past week on my pre-soak. I wonder if the pump is building up pressure then blowing the line?

It almost sounds like you’ve got a check valve that is failing and letting pressure back into the Presoak system. That will ruin a Flo-jet pump faster than anything I know. Is it a Santoprene or a Viton Pump? If it's still on warranty I's send it back.

The best pump I've found to use with Tire Cleaner or Presoak is an electric Procon pump controlled by a IDX MX-8 multiplexed controller. I haven’t touched my low pressure pumps since I installed them over 15 years ago and they are still running strong.

I'm not sure if it's Santoprene or Viton. I do remember that when I ordered it, it was rated for harsh chemicals including presoaks.

Even the santoprene model is listed to handle harsh chemicals, but the viton ones handle them better. I doubt your issue is with the type of pump you ordered.

Did you get the G57 or the smaller (020 or 040) model? I had a spare 040 that I used to circulate soap to a spray basket, and it failed in about six months. I haven't had a G57 viton last less than five years, except for the one that split the shuttle valve washer (and that wasn't a flaw with the pump).
