I have been on this forum since the beginning in the mid 90s. I remember when I found this site there were only a few posts but many dedicated car wash people. Back then members could be counted on a couple of hands. Unfortunatly many of those members are not here any more. Most have either retired or just grew tired of the forum. Many still lurk but never post anymore.
A pattern I have noticed over the years is that many newbies find the site and immediatly start posting on every single subject even if they have nothing to add to thread. This goes on for a couple of years and then postings back off and they respond to posts only if they have something constructive to add. I go to other websites where the number of posts is kept track of and people are always trying to get more posts than the next guy. Car forums are very bad for this. It makes the forum hard to read because it takes so long to glean any information. I am glad Bill has never promoted this type of competition.
Another annoying thing that I have seen happen over the years is attacks on vendors or their reps. The vendors and reps who actually know their products inside and out get slammed when they give solutions and eventually leave the site and we all loose their valuable expertise. I know of another rep we have lost recently to join several others that are not here anymore. Bill can not police these kind of attacks nor should he have to.
I think everyone should post when they have something to add that will help the post. Hijacking a thread just crow about something just devalues the forum. I personally know a lot about Ryko systems and post about them. Since I do not have a PDQ, magic wand, Mark 7 etc. I do not post on threads about them. I see many people who have no such restriction and post about any equipment they have ever seen. We should all help Bill with the forum and keep our posts relevant to our knowledge and the thread. There is no one person who is an expert on every type of equipment. The value of the forum is having multiple people on this site. Not a few who try to dominate it.
