My SVSR Vac/shampooer has started alarming all by it self. There is nothing in the manual about an alarm so I called Fragramatics. They said it is a sensor that has gone bad. It is an alarm that supposedly goes off if someone hits it hard. They said I had to send in the display/controller to have the sensor replaced. $80 to $150 to fix! Anyone had this problem and fixed it some other way? I don't care about an alarm sensor, so was wondering if there was a way to just bypass the sensor.

Maybe just find the speaker/pieso and cut the wire to it, if its soldered to the mother board you will need to figure out how to disable it without messing up the motherboard.

Unfortunately it's more complicated than that - when it's tripped it uses whatever horn/beeper that's wired to it as its siren, and the display flashes "ALARM" until the power is turned off.

There might be a similar sensor to the small reed switch on the front of a Dixmor timer. Someone asked me once how to disable the ability to read the count on the display by passing a magnet in front of it. He didn't want potential competition seeing how much business he was doing. We just snipped the switches off with a small diagonal cutters.
