Last year I signed up for a energy saving program with the local utility company. They converted over all of my lights to new energy efficient T5s, T8s and CFLs. Last night I opened the local paper and found an ad featuring one of my washes. It had a big color picture of the wash and showed that in one year I had saved over $3600 in electricity just by upgrading the lights at this location. I have 3 others that I did at the same time. I was surprised that they picked out one of my washes to run a campaign for energy efficiency. The savings have been great and the light is better than I ever had with the metal halide lights. I actually think I am saving more because at the time I added some of the lights on timers so they do not stay on all night. ONly about 1/2 stay on after midnight and it still looks great. I would encourage everyone to get these upgrades and check with your local utilities to see if they have some programs that you can take advantage of.
