From note changer to note recycler

Hi all,
Just wondering if someone has ever converted a machine from a note changer (output: coins) to a note recycler (output: coins + notes)? Is it just a swap and the note reader does the "thinking" or does the board inside the machine need adjustments?
I am thinking of modifying my change machine but that company closed down years ago.
Thanks.

I have done this on American changers. It needed to have a different board installed to operate the change function differently, but it also interfaces with the recycler to keep track of the drum inventory of notes. However, i cant see any reason that the recycler couldnt just output the "wrong" amount to the changer so that the customer gets the correct amount... I just dont know if they can be set up in this 'simple retrofit' type of mode....

Mars has a recycler validator, but I assume it has to be controlled somehow, unless it has software you can set up to (for example) always return three fives and send a payout of $5 in change to the system.

What kind of Bill changer is it? If it has an MDB bill validator installed it's easy to put in a recycler validator. The only problem is now you've got a target for the thieves.

It's an ICT note reader for pulse (not MDB). I called MEI but because its not MDB they can't do anything. Well... :(
