I think we can revive him though ;).

I have a George Forman grill with a dual grilling surface. It's basically two separate grills in one body. One side no longer works. I took it apart and found the problem, but I can't find parts for it. Maybe someone here can help me. The only part the sides share is the power cord. The power then splits to go to each side. In the hot wire to each side is a little "barrel" looking thingy that is soldered in. On the working side it has continuity, and the non-working side doesn't.

What is that thing and where can I get one?

Its probably a fuse, maybe a safety fuse/thermostat. Go to Goodwill and see if you can find one, if not just bypass it and see if it burns up the food. Otherwise throw the thing away and get a Hamilton Beach, like I did, you will spend less money and be happier with it.

I already have a new one, I just want to get this one working again and stick it on ebay. It is huge and was about $150 when new. It will probably cook 8 burgers on each side. I figure someone that needs a big one may buy it if it was a bargain.

It is a thermostat. You won't be able to get a part for it unless you find another and use parts from it. You may still be able to sell it on eBay to someone looking for parts or who doesn't mind having to flip the burgers halfway through cooking.

It's not a "bottom works/top doesn't" issue. The right side works, but the left doesn't. It's like two grills joined at the hip, but can be controlled totally independent of one another (separate lids & control). I used the RH grill for a long time after the left quit working, but eventually just got another one that fit my needs better.

Take the part out and go to the local Radio Shack, they have been very helpful to me when I cannot indentify the part.

There are still a few Radio Shack employees that know a little of electronics, but my general experiences have been just the opposite. The last time I went to a store and asked to borrow a volt meter (Mine had gotten wet and was ruined) to test a modem power supply before I looked for a universal replacement, the guy said "What's a volt meter for?"

I know what you mean, I am lucky we have a store here that the two guys are young and pretty smart about electronics. On several occasions they have been able to indentify components by the numbers on them.

Pat,
You can get the barrel thing at an appliance supply store. It is called a therma fuse. The type of store that sells knobs, thermostats, etc. My wife's curling roller set had one of those go bad when one of the roller clips fell through a crack and shorted the wire, blowing that "fuse." Toasters, coffee pots, irons all use them. Read the small numbers printed on it and replace it with a like part. Use Google images and Google "thermal fuse."
