I hooked up a brand new ginasan 403 120 volt timer to my vacuum. The vacuum starts fine and I have all the setting correct and it will not turn off in the 2 minutes I set it to. Could it be a sorted common? I am kinda lost her and ideas as to why it doesn't turn off...

Couple things to check:

1) Wiring of coin mech. If you have the coin switch wired across 24 common(terminal 7) instead of 24 hot(terminal 5), you will switch 60hz into the coin input.
2) Did you use the packet of white heat sink compound on the back of the Gs403 when you mounted the timer? If not you will quickly burn up the output.
3) Bad coin mech or shorted from coin mech to timer.

Does it turn off when you press the reset button and start with the correct number of coins? If so it's either defective or you have the time settings wrong.

Did you change the timer settings with the unit running, or turn off all the time switches with the unit under power? That can damage the timer and cause what you describe.
