Do Some Homework
Check your marketplace because somebody is probably doing it already. Maybe not as a business that is actively promoting it, but still accommodating a marketplace need. Do some homework.
Once you find some competition, see how they price their work and in turn what level of performance is the norm. A good place to start is with glaziers and other tradesmen who work outside your industry. Check with insurance agencies for specialists that they turn to for advice.
Also, get replacement costs for glass that may currently be filling the gap with consumers. These same vendors may be a referral service for you with automotive trade business.
As well, check with product manufacturers who supply glazier products like pumice and other surface correction stuff. They can be a major source of knowledge and
marketing insight.
At the same time, brush up on your knowledge of correcting plastic lens defects and specialize it that as well. Not just headlight refinishing. Things like enhancing optical clarity in helmet bubble shields or nautical windscreens are a ready market that may be under-served in your area. Enhance your knowledge and market yourself as an expert. Consumers realy like "experts"!
