I am opening an EE with pay stations and I would love to hear about some successful Grand Opening promotions, as well as some lessons learned.

Thanks

For the grand opening offer 2 months of unlimted washes for the price of 1 month.
That way when it's time to renew you already have their info at the pay station and it's should be an easy sale.
I've known operators that have had success offering the basic wash free for the first week and one that did it for the whole month.

I learned a lot about launches from Chip Burton, owner Shiner’s chain in Orlando, and Chip Lavigne, owner in Mandeville in Louisiana, one of the first flex-serve washes.

Here are a few pointers.

Never discount the “base” carwash service. Give it away but never discount it because it devalues the core business.

Give way free carwashes first.

For example, unit variable cost for washing exterior of vehicle is about $1.76 X 10,000 free washes equal $17,600 promotional budget.

Plan on babysitting the POS every day for first two months to shake hands and kiss babies. This helps build trust and repeat business.

Hope this helps.
