I recently installed a new switch on a Hamilton hopper. the correct coins are being dispersed but they are not being recorder correctly on the counter. any thoughts?
The switch may not be adjusted properly. When you raise and lower the switch, you should hear two individual clicks. The second click should happen when the switch still has about the thickness of two quarters of travel left.
There are 2 switches that can be used on the Hamilton Hoppers. There is the old style #11-0008 switch which is just the switch that you have to adjust and there’s the newer style #100-0151 which is mounted on a stainless steel bracket, there is no adjustment to the #100-0151 switch assembly, at least there shouldn’t be. I’ve had cases where the old style #11-0008 switch I never could get them to count right, ended up replacing it with another switch or I’ve had to bend the bar that goes between the 2 switches to get it to trigger both switches at the same time or pretty close. When you install the old style switch right out of the bag you need to bend the arm so that the only part of the switch that is touching the plastic is the curled end of the switch arm, when the switch arm is in the resting position. When you adjust the switch you want to listen for the 2 clicks on the down stroke of the switch. I don’t sell or stock the #11-0008 switch anymore since they have come out with the #100-0151 switch, a lot less install problems.
OK, Now we are getting somewhere. The problem is with the Coinco Mag-50 validator. I’ve encountered this problem a couple of times. For some reason after they have been updated for the colored $5 bill and after they get some age on them they don’t work well in a Hamiltonchanger. We’ve had them on the bench and they work prefect, ran a couple hundred bills into it without any problem. Reinstalled it back in the machine and they’ll steal bills on occasion. Coinco does seem to know what the problem is, but they are aware of the problem. My suggestion would be to replace the Mag-50 validator with a Mars AE2601, there’s a rebuilt one on EBay now for $159.00. You’ll also need a Hamilton Mars adapter Harness #48-3012 list price $29.41 and a Mars Inhibit Relay Pan Assembly #60-2056A list price $83.00,. The mounting bracket that you’re using now should work fine with the Mars validator.
If your changer is accepting the bill and paying out, but not registering the payout on the counter, the problem is the switch adjustment or the counter itself is bad.

I think rbrss705 is talking about his problem with "inconsistent hopper payout" We had the same problem with a Mag-50 validator, went to a Mars validator problem solved.
