Hamilton Gold Line talks too much

Our Gold Line's welcoming voice prompt seems to talk sometimes when there is no car pulled up. Is the sensor that is at the bottom of the door bad or need cleaning? I think this is it but I'm not sure:

Also, with the Cryptopay kit it covered the speaker holes so it's pretty quiet. If I cut holes in the new lexan panel and installed the grill it would be in the printed area of "insert as shown" picture of the bill going in the acceptor. Cryptopay must have forgotten that some of these have the speaker right next to the acceptor.

Shane, before replacing the proximity sensor try cleaning the proximity sensor with some rubbing alcohol and a Q tip. You turn the volume of the voice up. The voice panel is under the Hopper if you want to make it louder turn the switch clockwise. I don’t think I’d drill or cut holes in the new lexan face panel.

I think we fixed it. It looks like the sensor was bad because we swapped it out with another from an extra Gold Line we are not using. At first I tried cleaning it with a Q-tip from the outside and it didn't help. When we changed it out it was then that I realized there is a clear plastic cover over it preventing me from actually cleaning it. Whoops. We know now. As far as being too quiet we definitely will not need to drill any holes in the lexan because the volume was turned all the way down. This thing can be turned up to be very loud. I barley turned it up and it's perfect. Thanks Randy.

It's taking again. We shut it down to pull the coin hopper then put it back in and restarted it. Now I think it's worse but maybe it's just extra annoying to us because the volume is now turned up. Is there anything else to check before buying a new sensor? It seems strange that it worked fine with the other used sensor until we restarted it.
