Hello everyone , I have a Hamilton hopper that seems loud and not smooth and I have it apart down to the motor and one black plastic back piece and don't see how to get motor separated from it. I tried to suspend it and put small steel piece and hammer it down on shaft but it wont budge , do I need a puller of some kind ? Is the bigger box like a transmission that sits with the motor ? Can I take it apart and grease it . why buy a motor if I can maintain it , but I cant get last piece off of it , help. Dave

Well I got the motor off , I had skipped a long screw holding a clip I didn't think it was anything and going that deep to hold motor to transmission ( ill call it ) I see they sell them together , looks like transmission isn't serviceable , mine is rough to turn , my hopper is from 2002 or so and has so many miles I cant see putting money into it , seems like the parts are so expensive I'm forced to buy a new one.

There is a set screw in the wheel hub that is accessed through a hole in the plastic. You will need a long (4-5") 3/32 allen wrench to reach through the plastic body. Once you get the wheel hub off you will see the screws that are keeping you from getting the motor assy. out. The motor and transmission are an assembly and no separate parts are available to my knowledge. I took one apart once just to see what was in there and wouldn't relish the thought of having to get it put pack together and it work when I got done.

I’ve repaired hundreds of Hamilton Hoppers over the years. There not hard to work on if you know how to get them apart. There are no serviceable parts in the motor, it’s a sealed unit. Like what I.B. Washincars has said you need a long 3/32” Allen wrench to get the hub off the motor shaft. If the Hopper is a 2002 model and has seen a lot of use you should do a complete rebuild.
You'll need these parts:
Motor #11-0096B
Hopper bowl assembly #11-0017A (Look for a groove worn into the bottom of the Hopper bowl, this is not good)
Hopper payout switch #100-0151 (it’s always a good idea to replace the payout Switch when you service the Hopper)
Possibly a motor mount #11-0007 (depending on the wear on the face)
Is it cost effective to repair the Hopper, I think it is. KR price is $566.31 and Hamilton's price is $697.00.

Thanks for the help guys. I bought a new hopper off ebay for 410.00 counting shipping. Its brand new from ( Changemaker ) , from 2010 or 2011 with the counter showing 1515. I'm told that was the testing of the machine. It does seem new and looks new but in the shipping coming here it took a hit on bottom and bent one side of the leg in a little but seems to have no effect on the machine thank god. Fed ex did the damage even tho it said Fragile on the box ,,,,,, I put the old one back together and maybe it can work as a backup but doubt it. I cant see putting money in it. Thanks again.......Dave

I saw those Hoppers on EBay, there are ACW Hoppers. If you’re not concerned with the location of the coin counter and the capacity, they will work fine in a bill changer. The guts of the ACW Hoppers are the same as the ER-60 and HSH-Q Hoppers. The Hamilton hoppers are definitely worth repairing. I repaired 4 Hoppers this week and the most expensive one was $296.00, the only part that didn’t get replaced was the stainless steel case. When you put your Hopper back together check the end play of the motor shaft, pull the shaft in and out, if you have a lot of play you want the be careful when you put the hub back on the shaft, you want to only have about .005 clearance between the payout wheel and the mount mounting plate.
