Has anybody tried this credit card setup

Ive got WS II's. I currently have the Unitec credit card setup. I like it because of the accounting, receipt printer and fleet cards. I ordered the Unitec tap reader kit. It was around 3k and came as a very nice kit. It did require a new merchant account. (PITA) It does allow for continued use of the accounting, receipt printer and fleet cards. The problem i have with it is that the card reader itself is too bulky. When installed as instructed, it partially blocks the top 2 packages and nothing about it is symmetrical. I didnt like that. I guess i could relocate the reader on the door but honestly the card reader is massive, protrudes quite a bit, and doesnt look good.

Here what i want to try. I want to keep the unitec card reader and install a cryptotap above the unitec card reader on the door. The cryptotap is very small in comparison to the unitec card reader. Im thinkin that since the cryptotap works off the token input that this might actually work. This would split up my card transactions but the receipt printer would work for stripe purchases and the fleet cards would still work. I can keep up with tap purchases on the crytopay dashboard, and maybe on the token part of the accounting tape. . If i go with just the tap, i lose all my fleets. Sounds kinda funky but i am wondering if anybody else has tried this before i order it ?

I don’t see any way that you can just install a Cryptotap plus, wire it into the token input and make that work. Basically, it will be just like a coin or bill acceptor and let’s say you have 4 different wash packages $8, $10, $12 and $14. When you select one of those packages, how would the Cryptotap know the difference and be able to send different pulse amounts?

Fatboy, Im not saying just install the tap reader, Im saying install the cryptopay kit. I could be mistaken but I believe it works off the token pulse. My thought is that the 2 readers could work independently of each other. maybe, maybe not.

Coach i cant use the 1 time use cards. I have all county departments on fleet cards. They wash all they want to and i bill them monthly. There may be another solution, i just havent stumbled on it yet.

I hear ya keno

I’m pretty sure if you install the Crypto kit, which includes the piggy back board from Cryptopay to make the tap work right, you will lose a lot of the functionality of the Unitec. I’m pretty sure if that scenario would work, somebody would have done it by now, but there’s only one way to find out.
