Hey Guys,

I recently installed an in-bay automatic and would like to be able to shut the wash down at night when it gets super cold.

I was told there is the ability to add a relay switch to my Hamilton Goldline that allows me to shut it off from my phone.

I called them, and they weren’t much help. Does anyone else use one of these? Any advice or purchase links?

thanks!

You can use a smart plug of your choice and "plug" the main power of the gold line into that. Its pretty simple, may just have to add receptacles and plugs to your wiring if it is currently hard wired. There are many smart plugs and relays to choose from on Amazon and any other major retailer

You need a smart plug and a relay. You need to wire the pay station normally closed on the relay. When you give power to the smart plug that will activate the relay and turn the power off to the pay station.

The reason you do that is because smart plugs default setting when you lose WiFi or power is OFF. In either of those cases the relay keeps you up and running. The machine is only tuned off when you activate the smart plug and relay. Otherwise it’s business as usual.

Yolink has a lot of inexpensive relays, smart plugs, and sensors. You can do pretty much anything you need to do with those and a little ingenuity. I believe their smart plugs will stay in whatever state they are in if you lose WiFi.
My hack was to buy an extension cord and cut it in half. I then attached the female end to the breaker and the male end to the line going to the cashier. I inserted a smart plug in between. Yes, it looks like crap and it’s not code-compliant. They do sell relays so if you want to do it a more proper way you could.
one advantage of Yolink and other home automation over simple smart relays is the built in automation ability. For example, when a temperature hits a certain point, I can start an antifreeze system, shut down a cashier, and send an email or push notification to my phone with just a couple of simple commands that Yolink app is capable of. They also have water detectors, door open detectors, Vibration detectors, etc
