OK, continuing to try to renovate and revive the 4+1 wash I bought in April. The wash has 4 Hypro 2414B-LP pumps. 2 have crankcases full of water/oil milkshake, one seems to be dry but shows signs that it was wet before teh oil went away? and one actually looks good and will survive for now. Budget says to "fix" as many of these as I can. the Heads seem to be in serviceable shape but the brass sleeves that hold the oil seals seem to be forever bonded to the cast block in the 3 problem pumps. I suspect dissimilar metals and water created electrolysis to weld them up. I have probably distorted the brass sleeve in the pump I tried to dissassemble so even though the oil seals may still be OK, I dont know if the head will seal again so that one is probably toast now.

For now I may put new pressure seals in the on the "good" pump and the "wet" pump that I didn't pry on anything yet and press them back into service.

Question 1: Anybody have a way to remove these sleeves once bonded to the housing? I suppose I could strip the block down and them melt out the brass with a torch. Is it worth the effort on these old pumps?

Question 2: Probably a loaded one, what should I replace them with and as economically as possible? I am already at my "budget" for this job but we are getting close to the end..... I hope.

I've had the same issue with those Hypro pumps. Out of probably 50 that I worked on I was only able to get the oil seal retainers out of one. I had the pump in a vice and sprayed it every day for about two weeks with penetrating oil, and I used two screwdrivers to try and turn the retainers. After two weeks they finally came loose.

The big problem is that even though the oil seals only keep the oil in the pump and do nothing to keep water out, once there's been water in the crankcase the springs on the seals rust and will break, then it will practically gush oil while it's running, so you have to change them. Plan on changing the crankshaft oil seals too - at least those are easy once you get the pulley off.

My advice: toss them and go with General T1011. They're not very good and will need more maintenance than most other pumps, but they're relatively easy to service and the parts are cheap.

I think so. I’ve sold a lot of them and the nice thing is they are a lot quieter then than the Cat 310. I’d use them if I could get into my pump stand, my pump stand was built around the Cat 310.

Arimitsu 313R pumps aren't more difficult to service than a Cat 5CP, but they're a little more complicated to assemble. Still nothing like putting a Hypro 2414 back together, I still don't know how they manage to work with an O-ring crushed down on a rubber sleeve to make it a seal.

General pumps aren't all that bad, they're just higher maintenance and prone to oil leaks. The last time I ran one I had to change the oil seals with the packings or it would leak oil just from taking the head off. I can tell you for sure I'm tired of working on them.

There is a guy on San Antonio TX Craigslist selling self serve equipment. He is selling Arimitsu pumps for $125 ea. Equipment is still installed for testing. May be worth a look.

Probably a great deal but 9 hours one way...between my main business and trying to get this car wash online, seems like I have trouble finding time to use the restroom LOL.

Well, took everyone's advice as it turns out. just ordered 2 Arimitsu 313L kits for my regular bays AND the general T1011 for the truck bay, so I'll be running 3 different pumps for now, with a lot of used spare parts for the one good hypro I have. My mastercard is getting a workout on this project!
