It’s a wet, gray, dreary day here today, so I got to thinking the ICA Convention is only 90 days away. So I guess it time to start thinking about going to the ICA convention. This year it’s going to be held at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. Who’s planning on going?

I haven't been in 2 years so I am tentatively planning on attending. Still waiting on the schedules for my kids activities to see if I can swing it.

Planning on making the trip myself. I haven't been in a couple of years and looking forward to seeing some old friends.

I need IB washin to be my travel agent.

Anybody here know of any "new" products/equipment coming out or do we have to wait like Christmas morning.

I'll be attending for the first time in about 10 years. I am bringing my General manager with me and it will be his first time at ICA. Looking forward to meeting some of the members here during the show. I wonder if Bill will be having a party?

I am assuming that I will be there, probably without a booth, apparently the ICA feels that I don't earn a booth. There will be a party.

I'm probably going mostly to judge the state of the industry. There's been a lot of consolidation and companies closing, and I want to see how it's affecting things. For instance Ryko got rid of the last of their distributors and are now factory direct all over the country. Sonny's has joined up with two former Ryko distributors. Do they sell and service? How does this affect Sonny's pricing? You have to put in a margin when you have a distributor. Who will fill the void of the closed companies? Inquiring minds want to know. Plus, it's still Las Vegas. Even though our beloved ruler, Barack Hussein Obama, has admonished us NOT to go to Vegas for lavish conventions, that's a good reason for me to go.

My Ryko distributor is still direct with ryko so not all distributors have been replaced.

OK, getting ready to sign up. Looking over the ICA presentation schedule posted online, is this all the seminars? I can't say that I'm excited by many of them. I noticed they don't have anything in operations.

Are the early bird sessions still going on?

Also, looking at hotels. My family not going, just me- I'm thinking I'll spend most of my time away from my room and the venetian would be a bit overkill. I'm thinking Harrah's would be OK. The main complaint I find online is that it is smoky in the casino, but I don't gamble. Hey, if it's good enough for Randy.......

Any thoughts on the hotel?

SW Indiana melon fields.
Harrah's, the creepy clown place, where the bottom feeders go :).

Just kidding, I've stayed there. Nothing fancy, but nothing wrong with it either. Harrah's, Mirage, and Treasure Island are the most convenient other than Venetian/Palazzo themselves. Harrah's would be the cheapest, Mirage and TI may be a little more convenient. When you cross the Mirage and TI bridge it puts you right inside the Venetian. Harrah's is up the street from Venetian on the same side. The other downside with Harrah's you have already mentioned, Randy stays there. We are staying at TI.

Yeah, I like the early-bird forums as well. I can't imagine that they have scrapped them. Nothing else seems very appealing to me this year.

I think the Imperial Palace is within walking distance to the Show. The price is right. Haven't stayed there in a while but I will be there in May.
