All,

I have a fragramatics vac that has the IDX Big Two Time Timer. Yesterday it went on the fritz after a power outage. It work for a while after the outage.

It has power but does not display anything or perform its timing functions. I suppose it's dead (although I don't see any physical sign of damage). However I hear that they don't like to be power cycled and there are tricks to reviving them.

Any ideas what to try?

Thanks in advance...Big

Are you sure it's the timer? Swap it out with another. If you don't have another big timer, the smaller version of IDX timers (Ltt 800, I think) will plug right in to tell you if it is actually the timer that is bad. I've had a lot more trouble with Fragramatics power supplies going bad and causing mysterious problems then I've had with the IDX timers. The power supply is a jumbled mess of relays and transformers. If it turns out to be the power supply, Fragramatics has a rebuild program and they will sell you a rebuilt one for much cheaper than new if you send in your old unit.

I've never heard this; in fact there's a "Cancel" button right inside the machine for stopping the time, and it just power-cycles it.

You can get it repaired for less if you send it directly to IDX, or if you're in a hurry you can order a refurbished one direct from Fragramatics - they'll charge you a high "core charge" which they'll refund promply when they receive your old one. They're in the range of $700 new.

Thanks...

Yeah its dead :( They don't have one refurbished so I can send the other one in to hget fixed, but it could be months. So I ordered a new one and will have the other fixed as a spare.
