Instructions for running a backup compressor

Folks,

I am planning on buying a backup air compressor. I currently a have a 5hp AC that tee's off to my LW 4000 and SS functions.

Is there a resource to parts/instructions to do this properly. My current compressor kicks on at 100psi and kicks off at 120psi. I plan on buying a Husky 33 gallon comp. to back the main one up.

I know this has been discussed, but can't find specific instructions. Thanks!

I have mine set at kick on at 100psi and off at 200psi so I don't have the compressor running every vehicle what is the max psi on your main compressor?

Simply set the backup to come on 5 and go off psi lower than the on pressure set for the existing unit. The new unit pressure switch likely has instructions under the cover. If not, an internet search for that unit / switch or install instructions should provide it.

If you install a compressor that's a lot smaller and lower max pressure than the main one, just install it with a check valve to isolate it from the main and tee it in between the main tank and any of the equipment. You won't have to worry about adjusting anything.

Thanks! Definitely getting schooled here. I appreciate it. So my Magnum 200psi main comp tank feeds the LW4000 and my SS functions. All I have to do is put my back up in between the main tank and my tee to the lp functions with a check valve? That easy? Any recommendations on a check valve? Do I need a check on the main tank as well? If my max pressure on the main pump kicks off at 120, and the main compressor pump kicks on at 100 psi, what settings should my back up be set to? Thanks for your help! I plan on maybe the husky 20 or 33 gallon comps as a fail safe. Any advice is appreciated.

So I hooked up the backup today. I am thinking a check in front of the backup compressor would be beneficial. Anybody do this? Benefits? Any advice against a check in front of the back up compressor? If you have done this what type of check do you use? A regular brass check?

why wouldn't the check valve work no matter, if the main compressor quits, it does not have pressure so the pressure from the backup would open the check valve!
