I live in south Florida where a lot of elderly people live. I was talking to my next door neighbor one day and he started telling me about his time in WW2. Most of these stories are pretty boring, but this was different. This guy lived through four or five years being a Japenese prisoner in the Phillipines and Japan. If you recall the Battan death march, you'll get an idea of what he went through. He has published a book that recounts his times then. First off, this guy has one of the most remarkable memories of anyone I have ever met. He can recall details from everyday events sixty years ago. He enlisted as a private and came out the same way. Because of his cunning and card sharking abilities, and a touch of good BS, he talkes his way through a remarkable adventure. Here's his website that tells more and lets you buy his book www.jdmerritt462.com He tells stories about Gen MacArthur that will make you wonder why we never heard of these things. Hint: he wasn't that great and caused many of our troops to needlessly die. He really knew how to irritate the the jerks that were in the military. And he killed a lot of people, with his hands and simple instruments. Just another old guy living next door.
