Has anyone ever had this situation come up?

The in-bay "Presoak" light does not turn on at all while the function is being used. It turns on normally when I do it manually, through the diagnostics menu. One time, I saw it turn on for a car, but then it turned off as the arch got to the back of the car.

I'm not sure where to investigate.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

check to see if the output is coming on during the wash
y-63 for presoak 1
y-64 presoak 2

if the output is lit check for power at the output. then I guess just go down the circuit checking for power.

I think theres also a possibilitie of the option number being config'd for the old style sign package vs the deluxe style but that is escaping me at the moment. and wouldn't come into play unless you have changed your option number recently. hope that helps a lil.

mad, anytime I've ever seen a problem with the inbay signage, it was due to the wire/connections corroding in the junction box on the sign.
Take the cover off the junction box (2 screws) and gently tug on all connections to see if any are corroded apart. They could be just touching each other and working, then a little vibration shaking them apart.

newhampshiretech,

thanks for the suggestion. y-63 is coming on as expected, flashing during the cycle and solid afterwards. i'll check the wiring from there outwards when i get to the wash tomorrow. but....if i can turn that light on manually from the diagnostics menu, wouldn't it mean that the wiring is ok?

jcollins,

i haven't checked in that junction box for the same reason mentioned above. wouldn't my ability to turn that light on manually mean that all the connections are good? i'll check tomorrow anyway. thank you for the suggestion.

well, turning it on manually turned out to be a fluke, i guess. it no longer worked. turns out i did have a corroded wire in the junction box on the sign. everything's good now. thanks for the help.

I've ran into problems like you were describing several times in the past, it always turned out to be a wire corroded in two in the junction box! It seems like that junction box is a moisture magnet.
