Folks,

It was a busy day at the wash today. Sub-freezing temps and the LW was busy all day. I arrived this evening for ice duty and noticed the festoon track was frozen. I have a seperate cable running from the J0 to the X30 prox. I noticed it was cut up in a few places. The wire was in tact, however the "ground" wire or an expose wire that looks like a ground to me was severed. I patched up the wired and reconnected it with zip ties to the festoon. Removed ice and added lithium grease to the track. Looking good and smooth.

My question: Will that severed "ground" wire cause me issues? The wash has been operating flawlessly all day. Just wondering if the X30 requires that wire.

Thanks!

Mike

Any wire splice I have ever made in the bay has failed; some quicker than others.

If you know you made a good wire connection then I would apply extra waterproofing of the splice. A few layers of protection can really help.

Waxman,

I should clarify. The actual wires were not damaged. Only the ground wire. No splicing was performed. I used that rubberized fix all tape to cover and waterproof it. The reconnected with zip tie. The "bare ground" wire was the compromised. This was my concern. Do the prox switches require these ground wires. I believe it was the ground, because it was bare.
