LW 4000 pressure regulator repair O-ring needed

I'm wondering if anyone knows the size of the o-ring that goes bad on the main/watersaver pressure regulator? The regulator is made by PA out of Italy. I bought a rebuild kit from my distributor for too much money. It includes a bunch of parts I'll probably never need and if memory serves me right it was like a $100. The o-ring I'm referring to is the one that goes on the stainless plunger and gets sandwiched between the two fiber rings. I took it Fastenal to buy some but without the exact size their guess is as good as mine. Thanks
 
Take them the o-ring out of the kit - if they sell o-rings they should have the tool for measuring them.

When we are in a situation where we need to find someone with extra knowledge & stock to match up an existing o'ring ... we go to a local shop that specializes in hydraulic cylinders. They have been real good to us when it comes to that kind of technical help.

I have matched it up and its a #10 o-ring. I get them at Lowes. The water saver regulator bore will wear a lot faster because the plunger moves more due to lite spring tension. After 1 o-ring replacement, the bore is usually too worn to hold the #10 for any length of time. I go up to a #11.(1/16" larger) I have found that I can get a lot more life out the regulator by doing this. And as you know it is a quick fix that can be done while it is still in place.

Thanks Gearhead! That's exactly the kind of info I needed. You saved me a lot of trial and error. One last question...when you need to replace the entire regulator have you stayed with that same brand or switched to another? If you stayed with it, have you sourced it from someone else other than a distribuitor for less?
