LW 4000 Sonar Repair Question

Folks,

I noticed the plastic elbow that connect the conduit to the passenger side sonar eye box was disconnected from the box this afternoon. I also noticed a small crack in the elbow(it is plastic). I reconnected the conduit, dried out the box, and taped the elbow up with "plumbers fix-type" rubber sealing tape. The connection at the box is solid and seal seem ok, but not a permanent fix.

I am wondering if the part is PDQ specific or can I pick it up at a local hardware store? What part should I be looking for? Does the sonar eye wire need to be pulled to put a new elbow on? Or can the eye be disconnected from the wire from the sonar sensor and replace the elbow? Looking for some advice and would like to know if I need a visit from one of the techs or if it is something I can do. Thanks!

From what it sounds like you are referring sounds like it can be picked up from any local hardware store. It would not be easy to change out as there is no quick disconnect on the sonar. It would require taking the wire out from the JVT box and pulling it all the way back.

The best thing to do is to pull the whole wire out. It runs from the Virtual Treadle junction box in the bay. Replace the elbow with one from Lowe's or Home Depot and then pull the whole wire back. Sometimes you can get lucky and cut and splice the ultra sonics, but since you just had issues with your Virtual Treadle, I wouldn't recommend it. It woks about 50% of the time, but if it doesn't you have to replace the ultra sonic.
