An operator recently opened up a new Laserwash equipped with M5's in my area. Like always, I washed my vehicle there to check out the competition. One thing I noticed that was different from the numerous 4000's I've been through is after the first presoak pass, the direction of the wand changed for the remainder of the wash. The first presoak pass went on counter clockwise like normal. Then, after purging, the second presoak pass and all the remaining passes went on clockwise. What would be the reasoing behind this?

After the first soap, the arch should continue to go around the machine in a CCW direction. The only time it will go around in a CW direction would be after a 3X pass. It would then complete the wash in a CW direction, ending at the right rear of the car. This is to eliminate a dry pass on the car (after 3X). Also, the M5 does not purge. Hope that helps you out.
