the IDX model MA 800 coin acceptor in one vac is acting weird. It was rejecting every coin. led flashes red.

i installed a spare and set coin pulse values. tested ok.

now it is rejecting again.

any ideas?

The issue might be with the "personality plug".
Did you just slide up the plastic door, unplug the acceptor, and plug in the new acceptor or did you cut the wires and wire in a new acceptor? The plug is called a "personality plug". I forget exactly what it does but I do know that it can cause the symptom that you describe.

Make sure the spring loaded door of the side is completely closed. It might be time to send the first one in to IDX for repair, don't count on seeing it returned anytime soon, IDX has a 5 - 6 week backlog. The standard price for a MA-800/X-10 repair is $47.50 plus return shipping, I just got some back.

I had the same problem.
I agree with Randy.
After I reprogrammed it I closed the spring loaded door and used gray tape to keep it tight.
Still working.
