Hi all
Would like to run an idea I have had. I own a a touchfree here in Australia which seems to be cleaning as well as most others in the area. We run 2 passes of Hi ph presoak, wash sequence is hi presoak/ hi presoak /hp wash /triple foam conditioner/hp rinse/ wax /spotfree. Got thinking that as TFconditioner is low ph but with little cleaning value there should be a benefit in boosting the acid level of the product to effectively give a third lo ph pre soak within triple foam and hopefully be more successful in removing some of that annoying road film. Any thoughts

Regards Simone

I don't know how your dirt/road grime is different from here in the us I am sure it is. I would try several set ups to find what's best. I am surprised you don't apply a LO Ph soap then Hi or vise versa. I apply a booster with my high PH on a dual injector so it's mixing both hi and the booster with additives which increases cleaning power and it works wonderful. You can fine tune it more as the season and conditions change. As for the Lo ph tri color foam I got away from that and see more benifit with Color Polish its a wax and makes the paint on cars very smooth and shiney. If you clean the car good with your soaps first you will see a much bigger benifit on the waxes & polishes. Hope this helps are you running a Austrian brand soap or a us brand. Ask your distributor/supplier about booster and LO ph. The booster will enhance your cleaning ability alot on the high and I have seen people do it also on the LO I used to myself it really helps on touchless. remember the LO is for glass chrome & wheels ect. HI ph alkaline is what cleans the paint better on the car but they both work together. I would imagine you would have a lot better cleaning ability if you used HI/booster and LO ph soap than HI/HI. Hope this helps you.

Most of the cleaning with touch-less process occurs between the time detergent is applied and removed with high-pressure water. Some cleaning occurs because of impingement.

So, if busting road film is objective, this calls for an aggressive cleaning process.

For example, one-pass with very strong concentration of alkaline followed by one with very strong concentration of acid. A buffering agent would be used to prevent a change in pH.

Aggressive process can be made to bust film but is intrusive of paint. So, a high quality drying agent is needed (slightly acidic). Mineral seal oil would be good.

Likewise, one of the tri-foam products should contain some natural or synthetic wax (waxes are acidic).

Rain-X water repellent (glass and paint) is good choice for touch-less because it imparts a very high surface contact angle on paint (beading) and is acidic so aids drying.

In other words, aggressive touch-less process requires each recipe to have an agent that aids in drying and replenishes the paint surface with hydrocarbon (i.e. oil, wax) or polymer.

I recommend speaking with Eltech from Melbourne. Really experienced bunch when it comes to touchless car washing.

Old post, but I wonder if you could just inject bulk concentrated phosphoric acid in minute quantities into your existing low ph tri foam. I've never tried it though.
