Mars 2600 Validators

Ok a couple of questions I need some help on:

Upgraded my validators to mars last year. I have them on Hamilton Changers.

Question #1 - One validator gives out 2 tokens per dollar, and 6 tokens for a 5. I have switch 1 & 2 on all others off. What do I need to do?

Question #2 - Just bought the BPM downloader to upgrade to the new 5.. great.. bad news is the power cord on the downloader/ uploader will not fit my hamilton power cord.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

The validator just tells the controller what bill has been inserted and then the controller determines the payout. The validator is not the cause for your incorrect payouts.

Do you have the Etowah Valley conversions? If so, you do not plug the programmer into the Hamilton harness. You plug it directly into the validator. I had all of my validators out of the machines and on my desk which made the updates a breeze. The validator needs to be totally disconnected from the changer. Although not impossible, it would be very difficult to update them while still in the changer.

Question #1 Answer: The Validator has nothing to do with the number of token/Coins that the changer dispenses. If you want to change the number of coins that are dispensed you do that on your controller. Do you want to dispense 1 coin per dollar? If you have your Controller up right then you could have a problem with your Hopper payout switch or the motor Brake.

Question #2 Answer: Which BPM Programmer did you buy? They are 3 different models and they both take a different power cord. One requires a transformer for some applications. If you don?t have many validators to do then it?s not worth buying a programmer. I?ve been sending mine around.

Good information.. I will try the hopper payout.. That could be the answer.

I have the ME! Series 2000 BPM Lite 110V version.

My issue is the power cord on that does not fit directly into my current wiring harness from my old hamiltons. Any suggestons here?

I have (5) mars validators. Was hoping this would be a snap.

Let me know.

I do appreciate the feedback on this.

That is the answer. Here is a link to the controller manual:

http://www.hamiltonmfg.com/downloads.html

Under Parts, select C2000 controller. If you have an older controller, contact Hamilton for the proper settings.

Remove the validator from the changer and unplug the Etowah Valley adaptor from the side of the validator. There is probably some silicone holding it in, but it's usually easy to break loose, just don't pull on the wires.

Are all 5 of your Mars validators 110 volt? The BPM lite programmer can ONLY be used with a 110 volt Mars validator. It will NOT work with the 24 volt Mars validators that are used in the Vending machines, Bay boxes or Vacuums.

I.B.

thanks for the response.

Yes I understand plugging it into the validator.. however How do I power it up?

After I take out the Etowah Valley unit.. and unplug it's power I need to connect the BPM to power.. My current harness does not accept the BPM power cord. Is there an adapter for this?

Ok just an FYI for those of you out there dealing with Hamilton or old power harness's.

Mars has an AC adapter cord available.

Part number 01-12-139

It is about $10.00 from your distributor. Don't know why they just don't add it to the cost.

But anyway.. it is available and will get you through the power issue on the BPM.

ordered mine today.. Should be up by weeks end.

Randy thanks anyway I do appreciate it!
