Mars Coin Changers Stack Looneys & Twooneys

We now have Mars 7512i changers that have a $2 tube in the cassette so we can stack both Looneys & Twooneys and give them as change. This feature may make it easier for the Canadian operators to sell higher priced vending products like gift cards or token note packs from the vendor and make change using fewer coins.

Have they come up with tubes for different size tokens? I can't believe they came out with this thing to accept tokens, but not have the option to give them as change. I dispense tokens from a changer at each wash. A person could actually buy 25 tokens for 20 bucks and then cash them out in my vendor for $25. It hasn't happened yet, but the possibility is there. I keep the coin levels low just in case someone figures it out.

Uncle Sam,

It's Loonies and Toonies :) The original Loonie name comes from the Loon bird on the $1 coin. Very Canadian bird. Then when they cam out with a $2 coin, they just bumped up the name to a toonie.

Just a little Canadian trivia...

Toonies!!!

Sorry, Big Leo, for my ignorance of the "Toonie"!! I spelled it "Twoonie" 'cause that seemed logical to an engineer like me. I stand corrected.

I.B.---Mars does its own thing when they make a new product. I have tried for many years to get Mars to allow stacking and dispensing of tokens in their changer, but no response. The Car Wash segment is so small that no engineering time is going to be spent on giving tokens as change. The new Coinco Guardian is supposed to be able to do it, but I have never done one. The only changers that can be programmed to do it are older Coinco changers.

They do have different size tubes for tokens. You just have to find a coin tube that the token fits into. If an operator wants to stack & dispense tokens in the vendor changer, you have to plan ahead to do it and buy the size of token that fits into existing coin tubes. We do it every now and then for a customer.
