Many times customers have trouble with certain bills ... the unit rejects them over and over.. when the customer reaches in for another bill the validator usually accepts that bill.

My thoughts are that the original bill could possibly be fake? My question is this.. If I turn off security on the validators will this allow these currently unaccepted bills to be accepted?

How old is the validator? How long has it been since it was cleaned?

You can try turning switch #3 to the "On" position. That will put the validator into a lower security mode.

It could be that there is something wrong with the validator it's self. If it's less than 2 years old send it in for repair.

I have had the same problem. I switched to low security mode and it helped but did not fix the problem. I find that there are a whole lot of dumb people out there who try to put in bills that are crumpled, limp, torn, taped, stapled, dirty, etc. I clean my Mars Units regularly with Qtips and rubbing alcohol, which helps. All you can do is keep it clean and set on low security. Then, IMO, it is their responsibility to put in a bill that is in fair condition. I have had some testy debates with a few people who are trying to insert bills that no one with even a minimal level of human intelligence would expect them to be accepted.
