Can these be repaired? By any locksmith? Medeco?

On the side of the lock is a Bar that is "out". when you insert the key it can move in, and when you remove the key it pops ot so the lock cannot be removed. I have one where the bar will not pop out. The key cannot be removed, unless you have the lock out of the lock, turn it so the bar side is down and tap it so gravity helps it fall down / out. Must be some broken spring inside.

Had the exact same thing happen. The only problem I had was the key eventually got stuck in the lock plug after I tried to "see" if I could fix the problem myself. The second problem I had was the second lock was already in the locked position in the changer. I did not have a spare key, the locks were from a used machine I had as a second backup. I had to grind the plug lock down to retrieve the key to open the lock in the machine. I got lucky!!

Long story short, buy 2 new plug locks from Kleen-Rite or Ra-Lock, throw away the broken lock so the same thing (key getting stuck) does not happen to you.

If I did not have others keyed th same way and not sure if I can find the code tag or which supplier I bought it from I would simply buy another one.

Some of the keys are "owned" by certain distributors, for example a Hamilton changer key can't be copied by Ra-Lock, but as I.B. said you can send a key to Ra-Lock and they can use it to make you a matching lock.

You’re going to have to go back to the company that you bought the locks from, you need that key number. Medeco locks and key blanks are controlled to the point that you can’t get a replacement lock or extra key made unless you go though the company that you bought initially bought the locks from. I tried to get a key made from RA Lock for some Medeco locks that I had bought from Kleen-rite, I had the key number. They wouldn’t do it. They said they can’t get the key blanks to make the keys. I ended up calling Kleen-rite. You might try calling Medeco at 1-800-548-8472 and asking them what you can do. Every Medeco plug lock I’ve ever sold I have record the lock number just for this purpose.

Randy, I had no problem getting a replacement lock to fit an existing key. They did tell me that I couldn't get a key without going through the distributor I bought them from. Unless Earl has only one key he should have no problem getting just a matching lock.

It must have something to do with the direction of the wind or the direction that the Doves are flying.

I worked for a distributor for a decade and worked through them with Ra-Lock a lot. I've ordered locks to fit a key many times in the past. They can't make a key or a lock from a key number that's registered through another distributor, but they can reverse-fit a lock to a key if they have it.

FWIW local locksmith repaired it for $30.00. Says interior springs were gone. Must have rotted away. could have probably bought a replacement for a little less including shipping. But I got er dun with less hassle.
