I am looking to set up a mirror (or some reflective surface) in the dryer bay so Customers can examine their car without getting out.

Has anyone done this? How did you guys hang the mirror? where did you buy it at? Is there another material that is better than glass?

Any other info I need to know?

Thanks in advance guys!

Mirrors For Customer Self-Inspection

Mirrors mounted on both side walls in the drying area has been part of the Flex-Serve recommendation for the past decade. The mirrors enable customers to self-inspect their vehicles, so its wise to illuminate the area really well for display purposes.:D

Commercial mirrors are the best choice. Mount them 18-inches off the floor and extend them up 7-8 feet up to the exit door for best impact. Have a glass company install them for best results.;)

They are a housekeeping chore to keep clean, but well worth it in the presentation of your end product. Strive to create the same impact as jewelers do when they take out a diamond and display it under a halide or LED light. The entire car glistens!

We've had 20' of mirrors on bioth sides of our tunnel after the last dryer for 4 years now. The customers absolutely love it! It's almost like an extra service and most of the customers smile as they look at their car as they exit (I also have a video camera pointed at the front of the vehicle at my exit so I can see clearly their reaction to the mirrors. It is a definite plus. Of course, they have to kept clean.

John,

Self-inspection is a great finishing touch to a high-quality, stay-in-the-car, carwash experience.

You can create this experience by placing a set of mirrors along the side walls where your blowers are mounted.

To avoid breakage from vibrations, use "commercial" grade mirrors and have them installed by a professional window company.

If the tunnel is narrow, equal to or less than 20' wide, you may want to consider adding a window rinsing system to avoid dirt build up.

Highly polished stainless steel is another material to consider but the effect it produces is not as nearly as effective as a true mirror surface.

I have some photos if you are interested.

If you decide to use mirrors make sure the area is well lit so they can really see the results. There was a wash in KC that had several banks of lights around the mirrors which really added to the overall effect.

I've seen 4' x 8' mirrors on thier side mounted 12" off the floor. All you are really looking for are the sides and wheels/rocker area any way. No need to be higher than that.

Also seen mirror finish stainless steel - looks just like a mirror just dont kink it or dimple it at all.
