Between my father and I we have 35 years experience and currently own 2 tunnels and 5 self serve locations with a total of 8 in bay automatics. I am looking at taking my tunnel to the next level as I have owned it this location for 18 months and according to the sales info the previous owner left on the computer volume is down 60% over the last 10 years and 40% in just the last 5. I have grown volume about 10% and revenue almost 20% since acquisition. That being said, I am looking for more and am considering a monthly unlimited pass. It would be implemented along with a complete point of sale terminal and gated system (with 2nd lane to be added as needed).

SO, who has had success with this and, possibly more importantly, who has had failures with this approach? Not looking for specific numbers but growth percentages and especially your traffic counts and location (so I can compare demographics as I believe this to be a huge factor) would be awesome to help aid in this large investment decision.

Thanks!

See this video for more answers. I have a long history with this particular wash. I operated it during the late 70's early 80's for a different owner. It was always a marginal location and never a big performer. The current ownership was looking at closing this location unless things improved. Monthly plans turned it into a winner. My own wash has benefited greatly since we started selling monthly plans. The increased traffic seems to attract other customers who see someone else washing on marginal days.
