Motion Sensing switch

Looking for an inexpensive motion sensing switch. Have a "Thank You" light at the exit. Don't want to run it all the time and don't want to run 100' of conduit to the back room controller.

So I tried the typical outdorr lightsensng switch. NG. Ambient light in tunnel is to great and it doesn't activate if there is light. Tried the light switch type replacements. NG seems to only work for people!

I have found some that all seem to be over $100.00. Anyone know of cheaper alternatives.

Earl,

Just a thought ... if you can put the web-links to the ones that are over $100 we might know more what specifically to help you search for. Would the sensor have to have some protection from spray such as IP65 etc?

You can take them apart and cover the light-sensing component with black tape. On most of them you can usually see the sensor through the semi-opaque lens.

Another option might be a burglar alarm sensor.

What about wiring it into the fryer circuit, so that it turns on at the end?

I used to have a fryer. Now I have a microwave:)

Asked an electrician about using a couple of legs from the dryer. He said no. Would have to run it back to the 110V control circuit.

Took off the lens. Could not spot what might have been the light sensing component that could be covered without interfering with the motion sensor.
