One of my WS II is set-up strangely : it accepts quarters but dispenses $1 coins for change.
It was like this when I bought it.

Previous owner put a towel with paper clips in the hopper to prevent the quarters from falling into the hopper which contains $1 coins.
The coin acceptor is a Slugbuster and the hopper wheel already works with $1 coins.

I want to accept $1 coins AND quarters. Questions :
- should I get the IDX X10 or MX800 to replace the Slugbuster ?
- do i need a new hopper ? (not sure how both types on coins will collect in 1 hopper)
- do i need to re-program the WS II ?

Any help is appreciated.

Unitec has a retrofit kit for this. I believe it uses an IDX X-10. It adds a second hopper for quarters, it is skinny and fits between the current hopper and the bill acceptor. The key to the whole set up is that it also includes a two-way chute/coin diverter.
When quarters (or tokens if you accept them) are deposited they are diverted to the skinny hopper and when $1 coins are deposited they fall straight into the dispensing hopper.
We have three WS II set up this way.

Awesome ... that's exactly what I needed to know. There is already something like a 2-way chute/coin-diverter under the current Slugbuster, so all I would need is the skinny hopper I guess. Thanks.
