Need help with water problem

IMHO...Most installers do not take the time to calculate and set this value resulting in excessive brining.
Not just installers, but the companies who sell the units and claim they're properly set when they aren't. Of the hundreds of softeners I've installed or serviced, maybe ten of them were set for a proper brine refill time. I can't blame the installer if they're told the unit is ready.

Sounds like the head may be bad. Also possible that you have simply a bad clogged filter. Follow the hose from the brine tank back to the head, and remove the coupling that connects it. In most cases there is a fine mesh screen filter inside that hose. Pull it out and make sure it’s clean.
