network paramaters

hello , i installed a unitec card reader in a wash select system ,,,,im having not an easy time getting connected to the network --- i know im not to be connected to a public ip ,,,, its a valero station ,,,my ethernet cord is at the registers where all the other card readers are but everywhere i plug in to i get network down display in network paramaters ,,, its a mess of wires and hubs and routers and jacks underneath those counters ,,,,,would you be so kind to call me so i can talk to you on the phone , because i really need to get this working tomorrow ---- thank you so very much
