So Simoniz just introduced a new wax arch. I believe it is the n/s bubbleizer unit that was for foaming soap bath. It will be at the trade show in May.

Now it appears Simoniz is promoting it as a Hot Wax foam bath. I went to you tube and saw a few videos. It looks promising and marketable.

Any of you out east see it work in person?
What are your guys' thoughts whether you have seen it or not? Trying to find out if it is a beneficial wax with great results for the customer's finish.

If you get a chance take a look at the wax arch Ron Peterson's group developed for Mister Car Wash. If you are near one of their washes it is worth the effort. It is very unique.

In my region, Mister HotShine Car Wash chain has stores located in Pinellas and Hillsborough County, Florida, formerly the Gran Prix Car Wash chain. Mister has been offering HotShine here for years. My wife and I occasionally patronize the company’s store in Clearwater, Florida.

The product puts on a “good show” because it comes down on the vehicle like a waterfall of shaving cream rather than streams of suds like triple foam.

As for the durability of the HotShine product, I find it has about the same staying power of Simoniz’s Double-Bond or Rain-X total body protection.

I like it and continue to buy it when I visit the Mister store.

I used it at Tom Hoffman's newest location in vestal, NY. It does put on a show and while it is difficult to say for sure the type of protection you get in an application such as this, I would say it is equal to any of the other comparable high-end products, just delivered in a different way. He's got a rain arch right before it, so the water is flowing off the car and carries the foam right with it. It isn't on the surface long at all.

The wash itself is a pretty nice one - modern belt conveyor, and very thorough friction and high pressure set up. AVW equipment and I think N/S made the bubble machine and maybe the retractable mitter he has it mounted on.

What's Old is new again. One of my first jobs in the car wash was selling the "New" Hot Wax, the Hot Carnauba Wax. I think this was about 1965.
Of couerse we did not have the foaming water fall effect.

Foam "Polish Wax" came in about 5 years later.

A few years ago and then recently I mentioned an avalanche of foam effect.

Still working on the process and equipment. Someone else mentioned they would try. You tube videos show how to make foam machines, With typical Car Wash equip, Hydrominders, Flo Jets etc. Some parts are easy. You tube shows the fabric to use. We would need a blower that can withstand the car wash cycling of 100,000 times and a slightly different dispensing unit for the tunnel.

Seems NS has found the Blower. Right now I a thinking of the Tube type
coin operated vac bag for the fabric, and maybe the coin op type single vac motor with a tube type exhaust. Possibly a rain gutter for the foam to fill and fall out of.

Hope to report back in a few weeks.

Back To The Future Bubble Machine

In the 60's, we installed a long, narrow tub/tank just before the first mitter and plumbed it with a hot water line w/soap injector and a float switch. We wired a vacuum motor to blow air through a vac hose in the tub to blow bubbles and create foam. A long rubber mat was attached to the side of the tub and when the foam overflowed, it cascaded down the mat... and actually coated the vehicle like a non-stop blanket. It was easy and inexpensive to make... and the foam blanket was pure theater. Back then, an old vacuum blower was easy to find... and a float valve came from a toilet. Bubbles and foam; Lawrence Welk, eat your heart out!:p

I recommend the concept of a foam blanket often. Updated technology or old-school, bubbles and foam are a great merchandising tool.:D

Back in the early 60's my uncle's wash had the first arch putting our huge bubbles on the vehicle. Customers loved to watch it work.

One other comment I could make about it and I try to not to fall for the "new product hype" and stay objective but you can see and feel the difference. The car feels smooth like a hand wax especially after frequent washing. The beading is great too.

Maybe that supplier who was selling the "Canuba Hot Wax" in the 1960's really had something and was right when he claimed other suppliers selling a product claiming it was wax when it was not, were doing a bad thing, had something?

thanks for the feedback guys. now i see on sonny's website of what's new for 2012/ICA show they will have one too. called lustershield, or something like that. they show it at the wash entrance, but i assume you could put wax through it.

it looks like a good concept to consider, market sell.

I was just at the factory for a distributor meeting and that is not the name of the new process they are promoting. While I didn't see it in person, I saw the videos an it was a great visual show.
