For the first time, my IBA cc sales are higher than cash sales.

Even more reason to buy CC acceptors for SS bays! No more excuses.

I don't know what the excuse was anyway. Maybe its just
employee theft that is bringing down cash, or the prices
are so high, one has to finance a wash.

i dont feel the enthusiasm. Our cc per cash is kinda even out. Although our debit sales increase dramatically and even if it does surpass i wont feed those crooked cc processor a penny. Kinda wonder how to startup one , i would like to change the ethics in doing business in this environment.

BTW what kind of rates everyone paying?? True rate = total fees/deposit totals

Wish we could figure out how to tie into these guys http://www.squareup.com. I use this service in another business. Figuring the fee structure is a no brainer. Inuit, PayPal and a few others have similar services. I'm hoping services like these will give the "traditional" cc processors some competition in years to come and cause them to rethink their complicated rate structures.

Our SS sales leveled off at about 30%. Not bad though considering people spend 20% more per car with CC over cash.

I use SQUARE to sell wash packages and also use it anytime someone is having a card acceptance problem at the ACW.

So 30% use CC in the SS bays and for those 30%, they spend 20% more than cash.

IMO that is only going to increase.

I plan to get Cryptopay by month's end.

The CC fees are negated by the potential gross revenue increase.

Waxman,

MY IBA CC sales are about 35%. My SS CC sales run at about 16%. It seems people have issues with running time CC usage as oposed to just buying a product with a set price in the IBA.

The benefit of plastic payment increases as usage does. Most of my clients hover around 50 to 75 percent plastic to cash. Today, it would be more difficult for them to thrive without this.

Unfortunately, the growth potential in most markets today is not wands. People with a dollar to invest are mostly investing in automatic washing.

Maybe so, but if an operator already has wand bays, adding CC acceptance is one more way to wring more $$ out of those bays, right?

And although your experience is far greater than mine, my SS bays get alot of action and I enjoy having both IBA and SS (and detail) and wouldn't dream of having fewer SS bays.

I wish there i could find a way to do this with out it costing $1500 a bay. Does anyone know of any options for Canada. Cryptopay is not available. I have a Ics auto sentry for my roll over but there only option is to buy the whole bay system at $8500 a bay. Kinda sucks if you know of something that might be an option let me know. Thanks

Did you look at Eports from USA technologies? I have five of them and they work well. Not feature rich, but only cost around $600 each.

The CC usage in my SS bays has increased slowly since I first added that option in 2005. SS bays started around 15-20% and are now at 40%. IBA CC usage has also been increasing slowly for many, many years. It is now at 75%.

Accepting credit cards is a must.

I've never had to use it as a backup but am prepared to do so if I need to.
I read an article in USA Today that stated Starbucks is going to begin using square in the fall of 2012. We may be on the verge of a shake up in the cc processing industry...time will tell.

IMHO, Yes. Why would you deny a customer the ability to give you cash?!

Is there a reason that a changer can't accept credit cards? If you could vend tokens through the changer you would only have to have 1 cc reader. Am I missing something here?

SW Indiana melon fields.
You're basically talking about a CC to token machine. I have three of them and they don't get anywhere near the use I thought they would. I think the extra step you have to go through takes out the convenience factor.
